The Kyoto Guide

One of my favourite short weekend locations in Japan, with a plethora of places to choose from

Kansai is one of the best places to go in Japan, my most travelled to holiday area. I mean Kyoto is beautiful and serene, Kobe is underrated and so delicious and Osaka is there for fun and bustle. So let’s go through my favourite spots in Kyoto for the perfect holiday.

Where to stay

I always stay around Karusama Oike - I find it so much nicer than staying by Kyoto station as there are so many restaurants, bars and temples are in walking distance. Although if you must stay round the main station, Loisir hotel was great: there was a sauna and bath upstairs, free bike rentals and rooms are big for Japan standard.

For nice options then you have Ace Hotel, Park Hotel, Hyatt Regency and newly opened MOGANA.
For more budget but still very nice places then Oakwood Hotel Oike and Candeo Hotel.
